Roof Leak Repair

How we repaired a recent roof leak

Roof leak repair is one of the most common things we do. While every roof leak presents a different problem or challenge, the end goal is the the same. To stop water from getting into places it shouldn’t. Here’s the rundown on the steps we took to fix this particular roof.

Problems with the Roof

  • Tv Cables In A Bad Spot

The cables for the TV had been run through the flat roof, and at the point where three slopes come together. A lot of water flows directly over this spot. Fortunately this cable system had been abandoned and could be removed.

  • Wall Material Not Creating A Good Seal

The second problem was that the skirting material at the wall transition was not creating a perfect seal.

How we repaired the roof

We opted to remove the Hardie Board that was there and replace it with a modified bitumen. We removed the two courses of shingles above it and draped our modified material six inches out onto the flat rod and the same up under the shingles. Then we re installed new shingles to perfect the seal and complete the repair.

As you can see, water will now flow where it’s supposed to instead of seeping through the roof where it shouldn’t.
